Cattle Results from Devon and Cornwall County Shows 2005

For our first year of showing we were delighted to get anything. Our Devon Ruby Red in milk Heifer came third in her category, while our bull Vagabond got fourth place. However he turned out to be a great attraction at the show, as he lay peacefully with his girls in the cattle sheds. Prince Charles and Camilla both stopped and chatted to John, Jeannette and David (details click here)

See our preparations below

They all stated that they might not wash their hands for several weeks

This was the first time we had ever showed either cattle or sheep. Luckily John had, and more important knew how to train them. He also gave me the 1 hour 'how to train sheep' programme that worked a treat

After the cattle had been trained, John showed David and Flic what to do (they had showed animals in the past) and they then showed the Ruby Reds at the show. John and Jeanette showed the Angus and we showed the sheep with lots of help from friends and relatives

Below you can see Jeannette and I (Richard) practicing. You can also see the line of Devons at the show

At the Cornwall show Hannibal, the Devon Ruby Red above, managed to get a second prize in her class
