Energy Conservation
Mission Statement for Fowlescombe
On the farm we try to preserve energy and even create some of the energy we use. To date we have solar tubes for heating water and a windmill to generate electricity
We have a windmill that generates electricity which is exported to the National Grid. We then buy it back at much the same price we sold it for - so the grid 'sorta' works like a big battery. To date it covers our electricity costs for the farm (not the house) We intend to put in a second one. We will look at large solar panels when they become cost effective.

The Lodge house has solar tubes. Even on a winters day the faint sun will heat most of the hot water required for heating and washing.
