Five star Holiday Cottages on an organic farm in the South Hams, Devon. If you are looking for a special cottage, equipped and fitted to a very high standard with full central heating and a wood burner in the lounge, beautiful bathroom and a high specification kitchen at a sensible price then look no further. Outside there is an enclosed cobbled courtyard, garden with patio area, barbecue and summer furniture, and of course immediate access to our own valley. See bluebells, primroses, wild orchids, hares, buzzards, barn owls, skylarks, wild deer and a huge raft of other wildlife, according to the season. The whole place helps you gain that inner peace, and you may well even spot our resident families of badgers or foxes. The fascinating and friendly farm animals you will meet include Pedigree black Angus cattle, Ruby Red Devon cattle, rare, primitive and horned breed black and brown sheep, rare breed goats and chickens and a few more motley ones! The self catering cottages were newly created for 2006 to the highest standards and are perfect for all seasons. An efficient bottled gas-fired heating system ensures constant hot water and warmth, complemented by a wood burning stove. Satellite TV and DVD, comfortable suite, fully equipped kitchen even for the most discerning chef. The three-bedroomed cottage is of conventional layout while the two-bedroomed cottage has the bedrooms downstairs, lounge and kitchen above and you can step outside from both levels. Barn Owl Cottage has lovely views down the valley. Swallow Cottage was named after summer visitors, but our colony of house sparrows is resident all year. |

We are happy to take visitors on guided walks (typically while checking the stock) and show you where you can safely go exploring on your own, bearing in mind that the estate is a working farm. Visitors can meet the animals and enjoy aspects of both farming and countryside management, such as lambing, calving, harvesting, sheepdog handling, and countryside skills such as stone walling and hedge laying, as well as the wonderful countryside. Dusk and dawn are good times to watch for wildlife, barn owls, badger and bat watches or daytime pond dipping can be arranged. And on a clear night you can just star gaze and listen to the owls.
