Children at Fowlescombe. We find that having children here is a delight, seeing their faces light up as they meet with animals, or play with the sheep dogs, or explore the really fun parts of the farm. Both five star cottages have a room designed for children, but that can also be used by adults. There are books and games in each cottage, CBeebies on the satellite TV (you will be delighted to hear) and space in the lounges to have their own area. |

The chickens, goats and sheep are a particular attraction - especially if we have lambs that need feeding. The calves are lovely also, but are there to be seen as opposed to touched. At some points in the year the animals that we take to agricultural shows can be seen close-up - which is fun for children of all ages. Outside the cottages we have a few areas for the children to play safely, under adult supervision.

As part of our commitment to the Green Tourism Business Scheme we encourage activities on the farm. If you want to go on a walk on the farm and need an 'off-road' pram, there is one to use free of charge. In the utility room we have a lovely array of paintings and drawings by our younger guests - please get your children to do one while you are here. |

For older children we have some activity packs. These include an I-spy sheet (e.g. have you seen a JCB), pond dipping and other things. Please ask for details when here - a small charge applies to some of these.
Finally, please remember that this IS A WORKING ORGANIC FARM, and as such requires parental control at all times. There is heavy duty equipment, at least four people working on the farm at any time, and some of the animals can get very protective when they have young - they are just doing their job. So when you arrive we will tell you how to behave around the animals for their and your safety and enjoyment. Please note - we have written permission from the parents to use the above photographs for this web site. Please do not download them yourselves |
